Teresa D. Spinner

The process by which Teresa creates portraits can be a live sitting and/or from photographs.

From photographs:

As many photos of the subject as possible, for it allows Teresa, to see the various moods of the subject.

“Developing a feel for the person is an essential aspect for my paintings or drawings, in order to capture the essence of the subject. If there are limited photographs or not good photographs, a chat with family members is necessary. But photography is an essential part of my work because I can get things done on the painting between sittings.”

The actual process is for Teresa to set up on paper or canvas the preliminary idea for the work to be done. Initially, this will be a rough drawing or painting (the sketch). This gives the client a good idea early on of what the finished work will look like.

Once the sketch is approved by the client, Teresa starts working on the finished piece. Usually photos of how the work is progressing are provided to the client on a regular basis. Teresa feels it is important to involve the client in the process. In addition, this insures that there are no surprises for the client. When the client is satisfied with the work in progress, the work is completed.

Teresa can work in both pencil, which is done on 100% rag, acid-free bristol board, or oil, done on linen canvas from sizes 16X20—56X72". Teresa's work is guaranteed.

“I want my clients to look at the work with pleasure and be satisfied that the subject has been captured as they are in life.”
